We’re back again with The Best of | Beauty Edition. Reviewing five more beauty products this month! I snagged most of these from my favorite store, Target. Dreaming of the days I would leisurely stroll through Target with my Iced Vanilla Latte from Starbucks. *Sigh* Those were the days. Now, onto some goodies!
I heard about this one over and over again. One day I decided to add this Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder in 100 (Translucent) to my Target drive-up order. Retailing for $5.39, my expectations were low. But I am impressed! For a drugstore powder, this works great!
Details: Ideal for normal, combination(me), or oily skin. Buildable coverage. Long lasting 16 hour powder that visibly reduces the look of pores and mattifies shine.
My experience: I have combination skin (an oily t-zone with some dryness/normal on outer edges). I’ve used this over a dewy foundation and a matte foundation and this mattifies enough to take the excess shine/oil away but the glowiness of my skin still peeks through. So it’s a healthy balance. And it’s marked as Target Clean.
By far the best primer and mascara I’ve ever used! You get two in one for $16.99 and they are both great products!
Details: 2-in-1 black mascara and lash primer. Boosts lash length, volume, and definition. Rich, smooth formula without clumping. Molded bristles pick up every lash. Cruelty-Free. Target Clean.
My experience: I want long, fuller lashes (a girl’s dream) and something that will stay on without looking like a raccoon at the end of the day. So generally, I would use three products for my lashes – primer, two coats of length/volume mascara, and finish off with one coat with waterproof. Too. Much. Work. Now, I put one coat of lash primer and one coat of mascara and they look AMAZING. I don’t even have to apply a second coat. While it’s not waterproof, it defeintely does not budge. I have not had any issues with having mascara under my eyes. It also doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything. This is definitely my go-to mascara now!
GIMME Beauty Hair Ties
I was totally influenced on these and grabbed them when I got a set for free!
Details: All Day Hold. No Slipping. No Snagging. Secure yet Gentle.
My experience: Different Fits for different hair types – Fine, Any, Thick, and Long. When I first tried these, I had long hair and used the “Any Fit”. When I cut my hair to my shoulders, I tried the “Fine Fit” but personally, I like the Any Fit the best!
Tanologist Self Tan Mousse
I’ve never been one to tan – I would occasionally lay out (and by occasionally I mean like once per summer…maybe). I tend to just burn so I never really tanned. I’ve never gotten a fake tan and had no clue where to start. There are many self tanners now and I wanted to try one so I decided to try something I could grab at Target. So I read good reviews on this one and it has some positive features.
Details: Fast drying. Mess free (transparent). Brightens. Softens. Hydrates. Tones. It is also Target Clean, Cruelty Free, Vegan, and Organic.
My experience: I’ve used it a hand full of times and loved the results! I’m a total newbie but I’m happy with this one. The only “negative” thing I would say is since it’s transparent, it is a little harder to know where or how much you’ve applied. But it’s been trial and error and I’ve learned some tips that have helped. Overall, I would give it a 9 out of 10. Again, I’m a newbie so don’t have much to compare it to and will try other ones but I do like the results!
essie Gel Couture Polish
I loooove getting my nails done. I love having my nails done. They make me feel more put together and pretty. But since having my second son (who is now a one year old), I have not been to a nail salon. And for the last three months, nail salons have been shut down due to Covid-19. So I needed an at home mani stat and had no supplies at home! I would always get gel done on my real nails and wanted to find something that would last through constant hand washing, giving kids baths, etc. And I found this Gel Couture Polish by essie and I grabbed the shade Princess Charming.
Details: No lamp needed. Easy two step system: apply color then apply top coat. Easy removal (I just used nail polish remover with or without acetone). Target Clean. Made in the USA.
My experience: I love a good neutral and this is it! It lasts about a week and a half for me which is great! My nails grow so fast so I usually have to trim them by then anyways. And I used to go about every two weeks for a fresh mani. I love the ease of application and this color was perfect so I highly suggest trying this one out! 10 out of 10.
Final Thoughts
Another Best of Beauty in the books! I love finding new things to love! It’s always fun finding something you never knew you needed or finding a new go to like the Honest Beauty Mascara. Do you have any go-to products? Have you found a new product you never knew you needed? Let me know in the comments! I might try it out for next months review.
